Grew in Bolobedu, Skhiming Village in Mopani District Municipality. When at Maloba Primary school, Simon was an active athlete in 400m, 800m and long jump. Besides participating in athletics, he developed his football skills as a young boy playing as a defender for the primary School. Simon was then elected to lead debates committee at Makoma High School till completion of his standard 10.

In 1995 he was admitted at University of Venda for BA Degree. When studying, the University opened a community radio station where he volunteered as one of the presenters and at the same time being the programmes manager. This was the opportunity that opened doors for him to become a seasoned presenter at Thobela Fm after he was identified by SABC Sports/Thobela fm to be sports commentator.

Through his career he managed to broadcast some of the sporting international events. Amongst some of those events are,2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa,2003 All Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria, 2004 Olympics in Athens,Greece,2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, 2007 Rugby World Cup in France,2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa,2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and the list is endless.

Throughout the years since joining SABC in 1999,he collected several accolades since the first award in 2002.The awards accumulate  to  more than ten.
